Koaki Shinkai
Since her New York City debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in 1996 which the New York Concert Review described as “a difficult program performed with impressive technique, musicianship, tone and projection...proved herself to be a flutist of exceptional abilities” flutist Koaki Shinkai has made appearances at such venues as Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, CAMI Hall, Trinity Church, National Opera Center America, and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Ms. Shinkai was a winner of the Artists International Audition, a second-prize winner of the New York Flute Club Young Artists Competition, and a fellowship recipient at the Tanglewood, Sarasota and Waterloo festivals. An active orchestral player, she has performed with New York Tutti Ensemble, New York Wind Orchestra, New York City Chamber Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Queens Symphony, Bronx Opera, DiCapo Opera, and Symphony of Westchester and several pit orchestras of Broadway musicals.
Ms. Shinkai received her Bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin College Conservatory and her Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Michel Debost and Michael Parloff.
